What Crewsy is working on

Everything under Features is finished. This page shows what isn't yet: coming soon, in progress, planned, or an idea being considered.

  • Coming soon
  • In progress
  • Planned
  • Ideas
  • Recently finished

This page is a plan, not a promise. Order and scope change with what crews report back, and there are deliberately no dates. The subscription covers what's listed under Features.

Coming soon

Built and in final testing. Arriving shortly – no date, but next in line.

  • Coming soon

Crewsy as an app for iPhone and Android

The same trips, the same crew, the same account as in the browser – as an app from the App Store and Google Play. Plus a notification on your phone when something about the trip changes, and receipt photos straight from the camera.

Today: Crewsy runs in the browser on any phone, full screen from your home screen. See feature

In progress

Being built right now. Parts of it already run on the test system, but none of it is finished.

  • In progress

    Official charts

The map on the sea miles page currently shows OpenStreetMap with navigation marks from OpenSeaMap. The plan is to add the official charts of the BSH, the German hydrographic office, for the North Sea and the Baltic: depth contours, buoys and channels as they appear on your chartplotter.

Today: OpenStreetMap with OpenSeaMap navigation marks, pannable and zoomable, also on the confirmation. See feature

Caveat: Official charts are only available under licence. The terms under which Crewsy may show them are still being worked out.

  • In progress

    Automatic route planning

Start harbour, destination, number of days: Crewsy suggests the legs, with the distance in sea miles and the passage time at your usual speed. The chain of harbours is then set before the trip, and drinks and meals know which evenings you'll spend in port.

Today: The skipper enters the harbours for each day, or has them suggested from OpenStreetMap after the trip. See feature

  • In progress

    Anchorages and harbours

Anchorages, marinas and jetties right on the map, with what matters on board: shelter from which wind, holding ground, depth, mooring fees. OpenStreetMap data comes first. Navily, the anchorage guide with reviews from other crews, is meant to follow.

Caveat: Navily currently has no public API. Linking to it depends on that changing.

Planned

Decided, but not started yet. The order depends on what crews report back.

  • Planned

    Weather for each leg

Wind, gusts and waves for every planned day, from open forecast data. Not a navigation tool, just a look ahead: which leg will be long, and which day is better spent in port.

  • Planned

    Record the track directly

The skipper's phone records the track straight into Crewsy. The sea miles confirmation is then created without a file from another app.

Today: Crewsy imports GPX files from Savvy Navvy, Navionics, Orca, Garmin or OpenCPN, one per trip day. See feature

  • Planned

    Logbook

Watch, sail setting, weather, notable events: one entry per leg, kept by the whole crew. Printable on A4 like the sea miles confirmation.

  • Planned

    Handover checklist

Check-in and check-out with the charter company: inventory, fuel level, damage with photo and timestamp. Whatever is recorded at handover is not up for debate at return.

Ideas

Suggestions from crews that are being considered. Whether and how they'll happen is still open.

  • Ideas

    Find a date

Before the trip comes the question of which week suits everyone. Everyone enters when they're free, and Crewsy shows the weeks that work for the whole crew.

  • Ideas

    Lists without signal

Shopping list and packing list even when the supermarket has no signal. What you tick off syncs as soon as your phone is back online.
